A little about me.
Since you are on this portfolio, and if I have effectively done my job in conveying my message, you will know that I am in fact a web & graphic designer.
In 2003 I applied to the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology's Digital and Interactive Media Design course. A course that is very select on how many applicants it accepts during the school year. For the next 11 months I spent countless hours working with industry professionals to develop a solid understanding of all major concepts in areas such as Flash development, graphic design, video production, 3D animation, and business application.
While I enjoyed all areas, one area I excelled in was the application of graphic design and programming to building websites and web-based applications. I thoroughly enjoyed expanding my knowledge in areas such as: HTML, CSS, PHP, and JavaScript. The final stage of the course involved a 2 month job placement with a company within the industry. While searching for a place of employment I was fortunate enough to come across Strathcom Media.
Strathcom Media is an Information Technology Company that develops, markets, implements, and supports its own line of customized automotive software products, specifically designed for the North American Automotive Industry. Spending my job placement there provided me a wealth of valuable industry experience. I was able to work hands on with many high profile projects, and get a solid grasp on developer/client relations.
Upon completion of my practicum I was hired on full time as Graphic & Web Designer. I spent the next 4 years working for Strathcom Media, gaining extensive industry experience and really expanding on my skills by leaps and bounds. I have had the opportunity to work with such high profile clients as Globe and Mail, CTV and Honda/Acura of Canada. Aside from that I have done dozens of websites for car dealerships across Canada, as well as several non-dealership websites.
In January 2009 I moved from my home in Edmonton to the Seattle area. Upon my arrival I found gainful employment with Pacific Software Publishing, Inc. in Bellevue. In my time with PSP, Inc. I have been fortunate enough to continue to grow in my skills as a web and graphic designer. As of July 2010 I was made manager of my design team. While maintaining my previous duties as a web designer I have also gained valuable experience in managing staff and providing leadership to those who work on my team.
The wonderful thing about technology and the internet is that it is forever expanding and growing. As a web and graphic designer I feel it is my responsibility to expand and grow with it. I find my work extremely rewarding and look forward to what the future has in store for me!
